A rep for the actress confirmed the news to "People" that they "have mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation." In a statment, the rep says:
"They remain best friends and will continue to be in each others lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."
Hilary took to Twitter to thank her fans for all of their well wishes and support:
