Shakira Talks Working With Rihanna & Gushes Over Boyfriend Gerard

Shakira phoned into On Air with Ryan Seacrest this morning after premiering her new track featuring Rihanna, “Can’t Remember to Forget You.”
The songstress reveals that when it came to collaborating with RiRi she was nervous at first that it wouldn’t be able to happen.
“We’re both from the Caribbean, so I always thought we had this common ground and this song is pretty reggae, but it also has that rock attitude that I think Rihanna has, so that’s why I thought she was the natural choice for collaboration on this record, but I also thought it was a little bit of a challenge to get her to record this track because she’s so busy,” Shakira admits. ”I honestly thought it’d never happen, but I said, ‘I’m going to send it to her and see what happens.’ And she heard the record and she loved it and she said she was on board and I was the happiest girl alive!”
The Voice coach explains the hit new track “is about that guy that gets under your skin that you can’t leave alone and I think that every woman has been through that …we can relate … but this song is not exactly a reflection of my life right now.”
In fact, it’s the opposite of Shakira’s current life right now with boyfriend Gerard Piqué, with whom she has a baby boy, Milan.
“I’m in a very good place in my life right now personally and emotionally,” She gushes. “I have a very good relationship with Gerard and now with my son, so I’m going through a completely different experience right now in relation to the song.”
When it comes to Gerard, she goes on to gush about his fit physique. ”He’s got this body, he looks like an avatar, he’s so tall! In the morning when I’m in bed and I see him get up from bed and he’s so long he looks like an avatar in my room. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, I’m doing good!’”
Shakira, who is working on finalizing her album and anticipating a March release, is also set to be a judge again on the upcoming season of NBC’s The Voice and this time around she’s bringing on Miranda Lambert as a mentor.
So how does Blake Shelton feel about Shakira working with his wife?
“I don’t know, but I don’t care much, you know?,” Shaira laughs. “I’m excited to come back and I need to take down Blake Shelton. I have this new strategy designed only to take him down. I’m so lucky I have his wife now on my side.”
And if you’re wondering if Rihanna will join Shakira on stage for a performance this season she says, “You never know, but that’d be cool.”( By Sierra Marquina)
